Jamal Lewis tells NUFC fans what he’ll bring to Steve Bruce’s side in brilliant first interview

After signing a FIVE-year deal on Tyneside tonight, Jamal Lewis has spoke with great ambition in his first interview as a Newcastle player.

Our new £15m man revealed his ambition to become “one of the best left-backs in the Premier League” in a black and white shirt and also backs himself to add pace, energy, athleticism and quality to our side at BOTH ends of the pitch.

Here’s what the Northern Ireland international had to say to NUFC TV tonight:

“With Newcastle my ambition is to be one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

“I’m always trying to goal-set for myself and the team I’m playing with.”

“I feel like I bring a lot of pace and energy, I can bring my team up the pitch.

“I bring final-third quality, bringing crosses in and hopefully assists for the team.

“I back myself to be a good one-on-one defender as well as I’ve got a lot of athleticism.

“I feel like I can provide a lot down the left flank.”

For just £15m we have one of the Premier League’s more promising full-backs and a player Norwich fans seem gutted to see go – something that often says a lot about a new player.

His ambition is to be admired and he seems to be a model professional who has faith in his own ability following a big move to St James’ Park.

The word ‘ambition’ has sparingly been used at our club over the last decade – so it’s refreshing to see our new signings boast such confidence in their plans for our future!

  1. I really do love the way we use language these days.
You say Lewis claims it is his ambition to become “one of the best left-backs in the Premier League” in a black and white shirt.
    Hilarious!
Not as good as left backs in a red shirt, or those in a blue shirt. Just a black and white shirt!
And not THE best! Just one of the best. Say top three?
Essentially that sentence suggests he wants to be one of the top three left backs at Newcastle united!

    Now there’s ambition for you!
