In a brilliant video shared by the club’s official Twitter account, Andy Carroll has taken a light-hearted poke at Bournemouth’s failed attempt to re-sign Matt Ritchie as a part of the Callum Wilson deal.
The winger was tipped to be used as bait in a potential part-exchange, only for us to go it alone and sign Wilson for a straight £20m instead.
As you can see below, Carroll was out with Matt Ritchie and NUFC new boys Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson on Tuesday night, hilariously stating “Ritchie to Bournemouth? I don’t think so. We’ll bring Bournemouth to Ritchie!” during his meal with the former Bournemouth trio:
It seems big Andy has taken long to get a few laughs out of our new signings from the South Coast!
In all seriousness, It’s certainly a positive to see the new signings settling in nicely and getting to know their team-mates ahead of Saturday’s opening game of the season.
More importantly, it’s nice that we’ve been able to sign Wilson in a cash deal and not rely on our of our more reliable senior players going the other way – something that would’ve taken some of the shine off of the striker’s arrival had Ritchie returned to his former club.
