Mike Ashley spotted in Newcastle to meet Bruce, Charnley & 3 new signings – Video

As revealed by a host of North-East reporters in the last few moments, Mike Ashley has just made a surprise appearance at the club’s Benton training base via helicopter.

This comes after a socially-distanced press conference involving Steve Bruce, Jamal Lewis, Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser has just taken place, with the NUFC owner believed to have taken a trip up to Tyneside to speak with the trio he’s paid £35m to sign over the past 48 hours.

The Times’ Martin Hardy also reports that Ashley will hold a meeting with Steve Bruce and Lee Charnley.

Here’s a video, caught by The Mirror’s Simon Bird, of his infamous black helicopter arriving at the club’s training ground this lunchtime:

It’s not often Ashley makes an appearance on Tyneside – and it may be just as well at times – however it seems he’s already made more effort in ONE year to interact, engage and back Steve Bruce than he did with Rafa Benitez across several.

Nonetheless, it can only be seen as a positive that he’s allowed money to be spent this summer and is on the scene today to meet our trio of exciting signings – provided he does still want to sell the club, that is!

Let’s hope Ashley’s arrival also suggests more transfer talks can be held and this week’s spending does NOT signal the end of our summer spending.
