New signing ‘doubtful’ for West Ham clash but £35m trio set to make debuts – Sky Sports

An update has arrived on the availability of several of our summer signings ahead of Saturday’s opening game of the season at West Ham.

As revealed by Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Ryan Fraser is ‘doubtful’, but fellow new boys Callum Wilson, Jamal Lewis and Jeff Hendrick are ALL fit and expected to make their debuts for the club.

The news on Fraser is no surprise. On the plus side, Downie confirms he’ll train all week and is NOT injured, however the fact he’s not played a competitive game since March makes him highly unlikely to be thrown in.

Here’s what Fraser himself had to say on his fitness to Keith Downie today:

Fraser is believed to have been working on his fitness and training alone since he refused to sign a new deal at Bournemouth, however he’s not kicked a ball since March.

Hendrick has been in the same boat to an extent, however he did start our pre-season win over Barnsley, has been training with the club for a few weeks longer and recently got a much needed 90 minutes under his belt in a UEFA Nations League game for Ireland last week.

As for Wilson and Lewis, both have already stated they are fit and raring to go, with them involved in pre-season camps at Bournemouth and Norwich respectively.

It remains to be seen if any of the above start, but with Wilson’s record of 7 goals in 8 games against the Hammers, Bruce may well be tempted!

Predicted XI: (4-2-3-1): Darlow – Manquillo, Fernandez, Lascelles, Lewis – Hayden, Hendrick – Murphy, Almiron, Saint-Maximin – Wilson
