Robbie Savage predicts where NUFC will finish in 2020/21 Premier League table & why

Robbie Savage has predicted us to finish 17th and be embroiled in a relegation battle ahead of the new 2020/21 Premier League season.

Elsewhere, he backs Liverpool to win the title, City to drop to 4th, thinks Southampton will break the top 10 and sees Aston Villa, Fulham and West Brom going down.

Writing for The Mirror, Savage believes our expectations will have lowered again after the collapse of a Saudi-backed takeover, and feels a couple more ‘quality additions’ are needed if we’re to make sure of safety.

Here’s’s his comments on Newcastle United along with his predicted Premier League table in full:

“After the takeover that never happened, the Geordie faithful’s expectations have been lowered again.

“Steve Bruce did a fantastic job to keep Newcastle out of trouble last season and I love watching Allan Saint-Maximin’s flair.

“But they need a couple more quality additions before the window shuts – otherwise they could be in trouble.”

  1. Liverpool
  2. Man Utd
  3. Chelsea
  4. Man City
  5. Arsenal
  6. Wolves
  7. Tottenham
  8. Everton
  9. Southampton
  10. Leicester
  11. Sheffield United
  12. Burnley
  13. West Ham
  14. Leeds
  15. Brighton
  16. Crystal Palace
  17. Newcastle United
  18. Aston Villa
  19. Fulham
  20. West Brom

It isn’t the worst assessment from the BT Sport commentator – a lack of activity in the transfer market would have almost certainly lead us into trouble this year – however I don’t think our squad is as weak as he suggests following the arrivals of Wilson, Fraser and Lewis.

We’re weaker at centre-back than we once were, with Lejeune set for a loan move and Schar, Clark and Dummett struggling through injury, we’ll miss Dubrakva and could also do with another option at right-back and up top, but I think we’ve got a squad capable of getting closer to the top 10 than the drop zone.

It’s not over to Bruce to deliver the goods, as the team at his disposal and the signings he’s been given so far mean we should certainly be capable of building on last year’s 13th placed finish.

  1. It isn’t the worst assessment really? He is beyond a bad joke was less than a bang average footballer and is just as worse being a pundit. He tipped us for relegation last season the man is so anti Newcastle and his comments are laughable it is hard to take him or ten seriously look at the teams he has ahead of us yet we have signed some good quality proven Premier league players can’t stand the man
