Callum Wilson has revealed some of the ‘tricky’ players he’s looking forward to linking up with ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Our new £20m has named Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron, Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie as players he believes can ‘create chances’ for him following his big move from Bournemouth, hoping the partnership he built with Ryan Fraser can be replicated with a few others NUFC attackers.
Here’s what he had to say when speaking to Sky Sports Keith Downie:
“I looked at the squad before I signed.
“Saint-Max, Almiron, Shelvey, Ritchie…the list goes on.
“I noticed there’s so many tricky players that can create chances and assists for me.
“I’ve had great partnerships with Fraser & Ritchie at Bournemouth.
“It made sense.”
Wilson’s partnership with fellow new boy Ryan Fraser is well documented, with the pair combining TWELVE times across the 2018/19 season – a record that’s only ever been bettered by Alan Shearer / Chris Sutton in Premier League history!
With Shelvey able to create from deep and ping balls in behind, Almiron a menace from the no.10 role and Allan Saint-Maximin and Ryan Fraser able to cause havoc out wide and get to the byline, Wilson must be licking his lips.
As for Ritchie, his delivery into the box could be another weapon for us this season, but I am struggling to see how he fits into the side right now – and can’t help but wonder if he’ll eventually end up at Bournemouth.
