Premier League statement on Saudi takeover – Richard Masters hits back at Mike Ashley

The Premier League have released an official response following Mike Ashley’s explosive statement last night on the failed Saudi takeover.

While the Newcastle United statement claimed that the bid had been ‘officially rejected’ by Richard Masters and Co, the Premier League insist that these claims are incorrect, with them stating they are “disappointed and surprised” by Mike Ashley’s comments on their handling of the process.

So, a massive public disagreement between the Premier League and Mike Ashley and a saga that looks set to be never-ending.

An ambiguous statement from Mike Ashley / NUFC has now been rubbished by the Premier League – who are now insisting that the takeover hasn’t been officially rejected.

What confuses me, however, is that the Premier League refer to “the decisions” they’ve made. Surely if they are yet to reject or accept the bid (as they claim in refuting Ashley’s statement) then they’re yet to ACTUALLY make these so called decisions they speak about!

What a complete and utter mess.
