NUFC make approach to sign Roma attacker & Toon flop closing in on loan move – Reports

According to reports on Sunday evening, it could be one attacker out and another in at St James’ Park.

An ‘exclusive’ from Inside Futbol claim we are in talks with Roma over the potential signing of Cengiz Ünder on a season-long loan deal.

They claim we’ve made an approach for the 23-year-old winger, with Leicester City and Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin also making an enquiry over the Turkish international’s availability.

Ünder is a right-winger predominantly but can operate down either flank. He bagged just 3 goals in a bit-part season at Roma last term, but weighed in with a handy 6 goals and 10 assists in 33 games for the Serie A giants in 2018/19.

Elsewhere – and this could be key when it comes to potential incomings – Lee Ryder has confirmed that Yoshinori Muto could join La Liga side Eibar on loan.

It seems nothing is agreed as of yet, but it may well be one to watch in the coming days with NUFC ‘open’ to him leaving and the player in need of game time.

With Wilson signed, Carroll doing well at West Ham, Joelinton back in the fold and Gayle also ahead of Muto in the pecking order when he returns from injury, the Japanese forward needs to move elsewhere if he wants to get his career back on track.

A move to Florian Lejeune’s former club could be a smart move for all parties, with the Frenchman himself actually joining Alaves a few days ago to get some much needed minutes.
