Bruce makes big decision on Jacob Murphy, Dan Barlaser & 6 other Newcastle players – Report

According to the Northern Echo, Steve Bruce has told both Jacob Murphy and Dan Barlaser that they are free to leave if an offer arrives for either in the coming weeks.

Elsewhere, the same piece states that Yoshinori Muto will complete a loan move to La Liga side Eibar in the ‘next 24 hours’, with him, Yedlin, Atsu, Saivet, Lazaar and Aarons all placed on the transfer list by the NUFC boss.

Bruce must submit a 25-man Premier League squad next month, and the Northern Echo report that all of the above are very much on the fringes of that – especially when we are expected to utilise the loan market with another addition or two in the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen if both Murphy and Barlaser they’ll be given one last chance to change Bruce’s mind in tonight’s Carabao Cup clash with Blackburn.

For me, both deserve it based on impressive loan spells last season and some eye-catching displays in pre-season, even if it’s simply a chance to put themselves in the sop window above all else.

Murphy looked sharp from the bits I saw from pre-season and returned from Sheffield Wednesday with rave reviews, while Barlaser looked a class above League One during his stint with Rotherham and pinged some lovely passes in our last few friendlies.

That said, it’s easy to forget the latter turns 24 next year, with Murphy also 25 and both out of contract next summer.

With those contract situations in mind, another loan is almost a non starter unless they agree to sign new deals before leaving, meaning Bruce has been left with a big decision to make.

A difficult decision to make for Bruce, although it looks like he’s opted to sell both while we can if offers arrive between now and October 5th.
