Leicester City beat Newcastle to loan deal with £25m obligation to buy – TalkSPORT

According to talkSPORT, Leicester City have beaten us to the signing of Cengiz Under.

It emerged over the weekend that the Roma winger was someone we were looking to sign on loan, with a number of outlets suggesting ourselves, Leicester and Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin had all made enquiries over the Turkish international’s availability following a bit-part season in Italy.

A few days on, however, it looks like he’ll now sign for Leicester City. Here’s what talkSPORT’s Alex Cook has had to say in the last few moments:

The Guardian also reveal that the deal will include an obligation to buy for £25m – something that may have hampered our pursuit given the set amount we would’ve had to pay in 2021.

Elsewhere, Gianluigi Longari – an Italian journalist for TuttoMercato – claims he is ‘top of our list’ and someone we are still competing to sign, however it’s being reported by several outlets closer to home that his move to Leicester is all but done.

A talented young player with a point to prove who could’ve given us another exciting option in attack and allowed us to loan out Jacob Murphy once again, however it’s no surprise to see us lose out to top six contenders in Leicester.

After last night’s toothless display exposed the lack of quality options we have in reserve, let’s hope we can utilise the loan market to bring in another attacker or two in the coming weeks!
