According to Sky Sports’ ‘power rankings’, Newcastle United have EIGHT players in the Premier League’s top 50 table following our opening day win at West Ham.
The rankings focus on a range of key stats in Sky’s search for the league’s form players each and every gameweek.
Jeff Hendrick is our highest ranked player in 7th following his goal, assists and brilliant all round display on Saturday, with Karl Darlow (12th), Callum Wilson (17th), Javier Manquillo (30th), Federico Fernandez (34th), Jamal Lewis (45th), Jamaal Lascelles (46th) and Andy Carroll (49th) also making the top 50.
Here’s Sky Sports’ power rankings in full following the first weekend of the new season, which features THREE Mags in the top 20 and Reece James pipping Mo Salah at the top:
No surprise to see Hendrick and Wilson high up after influential debuts, but a slight shock to see Darlow way up in 12th – although he did put in a solid display to help us earn a clean sheet at the London Stadium.
Hopefully we have even more inside Sky’s top 50 following Sunday’s clash with Brighton at St James’ Park!
