Rose close to surprise loan move as NUFC reject chance to re-sign him from Spurs – Sky Sports

Danny Rose is closing in on a new club – but it won’t be Newcastle United.

Sky Sports report that the Tottenham outcast is on course to sign for Serie A strugglers Genoa on loan, although the deal had been slowed down due to their struggle to match his wage demands.

Spurs are keen to offload him on a permanent deal, however Sky claim they are willing to loan him out once again and allow him to leave on a free next summer once his contract expires.

It wasn’t long ago Steve Bruce seemed desperate to keep the England international at the club following his temporary stint at St James’ Park – despite some incredibly ordinary displays – however we ended up pursuing a £15m move for Norwich’s Jamal Lewis instead.

Now, following a fallout with Jose Mourinho, the 30-year-old looks set for Genoa – and a side who narrowly survived in Serie A last season, finishing in 17th and just a few points above the drop zone.

Rose is currently third choice in the pecking order behind Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon, however could well be set to slip to FOUTH on Mourinho’s list at left-back if and when Spanish star Sergio Reguilon signs from Real Madrid.

He looked a solid signing for us on paper back in January and did a solid-ish job in the end, but with him looking out of shape and past his best for most of it, I think everyone on Tyneside is much happier to see us shell out on Jamal Lewis instead.
