According to Sky Sports, DeAndre Yedlin is ‘close’ to joining Besitkas.
The Daily Mail reported just yesterday that we’d demand £5m for the full-back after interest from the MLS and unnamed sides across Europe, however it’s now being suggested that talks with the Turkish giants are over a free transfer.
Here’s what’s just popped up on Sky Sports‘ live transfer centre in the last few moments
Newcastle’s DeAndre Yedlin is close to joining Besiktas.
He has a year left of his contract on Tyneside but talks are said to be over a free transfer.
We know he’s out of contract next summer and no longer in Bruce’s long-term plans, however it seems odd that we’d allow him to leave on a free.
After all, he’s still just 27 and has solid experience under his belt in the top two tiers of English football.
The American is now third in the pecking order at right-back behind Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth, with Bruce recently admitting that he may need to find a new club in search of regular first-team football.
Perhaps the club are happy to move him on for nothing just to get his wages off the books?
Who knows, but this would be a move out of nowhere for the USA star, with many tipping him to return to the MLS over the past few months.
