Bruce confirms “nasty” injury & reveals Saint-Maximin fears after 0-3 defeat to Brighton

Steve Bruce has revealed that Jamal Lewis has picked up a “nasty” injury following our embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Brighton, fearing he may have an abrasion in his eye.

Seagulls midfielder Yves Bissouma received a straight red card for a reckless studs up foul on Lewis’s face in the dying embers of the game which left the full-back needing a headband after a cut to his forehead.

The incident capped off a bad day for the Toon as we were handed a brutal reality check in our first home game of the season, with star player Allan Saint-Maximin also limping off after twisting his ankle.

Bruce spoke to the press after the game to give an update on the duo:

“Jamal has a nasty eye injury.

“We’ll see how bad it is.

“We’re not too concerned about the cut but he might have an abrasion in his eye.

“Allan Saint-Maximin has an ankle injury so again we’ll have to wait and see on that.”

“Allan never really recovered from the early incident.

“He had the ankle knock and in hindsight I maybe should have taken him off earlier but we’ll see how he is.”

Both players struggled down our left hand side today against the marauding Tariq Lamptey, and their games ending in injury summed up their afternoons.

It was probably Saint-Maximin’s worst display in a Newcastle shirt since his arrival, yet it will be a devastating blow if he’s set for another spell on the sidelines.

Today’s result is certainly one to forget and a major reality check.

  1. 10 seconds after the whistle (!!??)
Why even mention this UNLESS one wants to take the attention away from not a single attempt on target @ HOME

This guy isn’t a manager – doesn’t believe in Tactics (!!!???) and picks players to please them = Carroll

We have 2 good signings in Lewis & Wilson but Hendrick is average and I wouldn’t have touched Fraser for his antics at Bournemouth and then trying to push his signing down the road in the hope a bigger club came in for him = disgraceful backslider!

Get a MANAGER and we might see a team & even a player in Joelington
