Lejeune off to bad start in Spain as bizarre debut involves Joselu stunner, late error & Kenedy

Just a few days on from his season-long loan move to Alaves, Florian Lejeune started his first game for his new club following his return to Spain last night.

His debut against fellow La Liga strugglers Granada started badly, with former Spurs flop Roberto Soldado giving the hosts an early lead after 7 minutes (see all the highlights below).

Alaves were then level 15 minutes later via another familiar name, with ex-Mag Joselu scoring a bullet of a free-kick (yes, really!) for Lejeune’s new side to take them into the break level.

The Frenchman then saw yellow in the second half, however, and has been criticised for his part in Granada’s winner 10 minutes from time, with him failing to connect with a cross that fell to Machis at the back post.

Then, in what appeared to be a reunion of past and present NUFC flops, former loan star Kenedy came on for Granada late on and almost scored (see his decent effort at 1:05 into the clip above).

Not the best start to his spell in Spain, although it’s good to see he’s been thrown straight into the side for the much needed game time he needs after a few long spells on the sidelines and so little football under Steve Bruce.
