Achraf Lazaar has returned to Newcastle after a summer spent training alone in Sardinia – but he’s already been banished to train with the U-23’s by Steve Bruce.
The Chronicle confirm that the left-back has been told he will NOT be involved in Steve Bruce’s first team plans at all this season – despite the NUFC boss signing him on loan during his recent spell at Sheffield Wednesday.
An uninspiring loan spell in Serie B last season appears to have put the proverbial nail in the coffin for Lazaar, who seems baffled by the treatment he’s received from both Rafa Benitez and Steve Bruce.
The 28-year-old’s Newcastle career is all but over and Bruce is desperate to move him and his reported £32,000 per week wages away from the club.
That said, Lazaar has been available for multiple windows now and no clubs have come calling – other than those in the second tier in Italy who eventually took him on loan.
I can see us allowing him to leave on a free – despite his contract not expiring until next summer – just so we can move him on and find a new home for a player who’ll be costing us over £1m this year to sit and train with the club’s Academy.
Hopefully he, Aarons, Saivet can all be moved on ASAP – especially when freeing up space on the wage bill could be key when it comes to further additions over the next fortnight.

What about the Flop’s that started yesterday & Bruce himself
Should be quite a few looking at looking for jobs in the Championship before they take the Club there!
We NEED a NUMBER 9 – go out and buy QUALITY – but NUFC could go and buy Messi and still end up in the Championship with Bruce as ‘manager’

I’m afraid even if NUFC had God as manager and Jesus as his assistance we would still not win a trophy. St James Park is cursed.
