Chelsea star now available to sign on loan – A no-brainer for NUFC & exactly what we need?

Frank Lampard has confirmed today that he is now open to allowing Ruben Loftus-Cheek to leave Chelsea on loan – and we should be all over it.

The 24-year-old is not only versatile, being able to operate anywhere in midfield, but offers exactly what our engine room often lacks.

Shelvey’s can pass a ball, Hayden can do the dirty work well and Hendrick will run all day, but Loftus-Cheek has that explosiveness and the ability to break the lines and power through opposition midfields.

With Ritchie set for several months out, Atsu on the transfer list and Almiron our only natural CAM, Loftus-Cheek’s ability to play deep, wide or just off the front means he could several gaps.

The 6ft 3′ England international also fits the bill for Steve Bruce based on his recent urge to sign British players with Premier League experience.

Not only that, the NUFC boss hinted recently that he’ll be seeing what the ‘big six’ offer our way now we’ve been left to shop predominantly in the loan market. I have little doubt that Bruce would want him.

It may be that even loan additions aren’t possible until a few of Atsu, Yedlin, Aarons, Saivet and Lazaar are moved on, however he’ll be pushing for new arrivals – and this one would improve us considerably.

With just six days remaining and plenty of deadwood yet to be shipped out, let’s hope we see a few leave at least one loan so a potential move for Loftus-Cheek becomes a realistic proposition for Steve Bruce.
