Bruce reveals good & bad transfer news heading into the final few days of the window

Steve Bruce says he doesn’t expect to be ‘that busy’ in the final few days of the transfer window – admitting we won’t be spending any more but could utilise the loan market.

In today’s press conference, Bruce accepted that he’s completed the majority of his business done before the season started, however he does state that if a ‘good loan signing’ becomes available to us, “we will act”.

Here’s what he had to say, ruling out permanent deal, yet refusing to close the door on loans – especially if “one or two” depart before Monday’s 11pm deadline:

“I don’t expect to be that busy. If something becomes available we will act.

“But we made sure our work was done before the season was started. If a good player comes up on loan we will look at it.

“We have to let a few leave this building and we will see what develops.

“We have one or two things bubbling away (outgoings), we’ll see”

So it’s now been confirmed that no more spending will occur this window. If players are going to come in before the window slams shut; they will be on loan.

It was revealed earlier in the week that the manager was waiting to see who would become available from the top 8 clubs regarding a loan deal, with the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Phil Jones linked.

In regards to outgoings, it’s good to see Bruce say that there are several things ‘bubbling away’ behind the scenes – but shared no specifics.

Fingers crossed. We definitely need at least one or two loan signings before the window shuts!
