Bruce shares new transfer update, says South American will sign & reacts to Walcott rumours

Speaking to the press after last night’s win against Burnley, Steve Bruce has shed some light on any potential transfer dealings – with just TWO days left until the window slams shuts.

It’s not fantastic news for fans who had hoped that there would be a few new faces arrive by Monday night, with Bruce insisting that we’ll only make a late loan signing if a “something mouthwatering” comes along over the next 48 hours:

“I won’t be jumping into the market (for anyone) unless something mouthwatering comes along which really makes us want to”.

He also shut down the Theo Walcott rumours that emerged yesterday, suggesting there’s nothing in claims we’ve been in talks with the Everton winger:

“I don’t know where you have got that from”.

There are two new faces expected on Tyneside, but they will be a part of the academy set-up and not the first team.

As revealed by Lee Ryder, the NUFC boss confirmed that Peruvian talent Rodrigo Vilca will join our U-23’s, also revealing that an unnamed 17 year-old is currently on trial with the club:

So, movement on the Academy front, but it’s concerning that we may not bring in any senior reinforcements before Monday’s 11pm deadline – especially when we’re so light on centre-backs after Schar’s withdrawal and are only an injury or two away from being left threadbare in attack.

We can only hope that something ‘mouthwatering’ does come up that we can’t refuse!

  1. Credit to BOTH teams in awful conditions!

Double-Maximin shines again and now we’ve added Wilson and Lewis we are starting to get players that give us a chance…

..just think what these players would be like with a ‘Manager’
