Newcastle United now in talks with Watford over deadline day loan exit – Report

Christian Atsu’s Newcastle career is set to end in the next two days, with it emerging that he’s set to leave on loan before the transfer window shuts at 11pm tomorrow.

It is understood that the Ghanaian was told by Steve Bruce that he would not be included in the manager’s 25 man Premier League squad – and now has less than 48 hours to find a new club.

Watford and Nottingham Forest are eyeing up a loan deal for the winger – and it’s the former who have stepped up their interest according to the Northern Echo.

They’ve confirmed that Watford officials have been holding talks with the club this week in a bid to strike a deal to take the winger to Vicarage Road on loan. His current Newcastle deals expires next summer, meaning he would be free to leave after this loan deal!

Atsu has been a decent servant for the club, making 118 appearances and playing a part in our promotion season and stabilising season in the top flight the year after. But we’ve now got far better options in his position, meaning he’s nowhere near the first-team now and needing to be moved on.

We’d like to wish him all the best if this Watford move goes through – a deal that could make sense for all parties now he’s way down Bruce’s pecking order in wide areas.
