Sky reporter urges NUFC to look at Man City & Chelsea duo and “expects” deadline day loan

Sky Sports’ Pete Graves has told Newcastle fans that he still ‘expects’ us to sign someone on loan before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Steve Bruce ruled out any more permanent signings in his latest press conference, however we still have a few domestic loan deals available to us – and Graves has named TWO players he thinks we should be looking at.

He believes Man City’s John Stones and Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek are players worth going for, believing we’re ‘short at centre-back’ and could use an extra but of creativity in midfield.

Here’s what he told NUFC fans asking for his transfer thoughts on Twitter:

They’ve still got their loan quota to use… I expect they will.

We’re short at CB and I’d love to see a creative CM brought in.

I’d go for John Stones and Ruben Loftus Cheek on loan.

But there will be others available with the top 6 having to trim in the coming days…

Premier League managers up and down the country will be making some big decisions in the next few days as to who will and won’t make their 25-man squads – so there’ll be several handy players becoming available to sign on loan today.

As for Stones and Loftus-Cheek, they are certainly two players who A) need game time and B) could well be allowed to leave on loan after falling down the pecking order at Man City and Chelsea respectively.

Bruce said after Saturday night’s win over Burnley that he’ll only make a move in the loan market if something “mouthwatering” became available – and Loftus Cheek especially could give us exactly that!

  1. “Sky reporter backs NUFC to look at….”

Maybe should have gone with “Sky reporter backs NUFC to think about considering possibly looking at …”

  2. What in the blue hell is a Pete Graves and what gives him an inside track on who newcastle will sign? Is this based on anything or just an opinion from a nobody. Might as well publish opinions from any random joe of its the latter

  3. I hear Tracey from Facebook will update on who we could possibly, in a perfect world, definitely sign on loan presumably with an option to buy, if what she hears is correct.
    A source told me.
    Sounds legit.

  4. It’s sad when an article Is based on some office bound half wit rambling on about his ideas and guesses

  5. Is the reporter being paid by Man City to offload Jones, I wouldn’t give him a game for Morpeth Juniors. He’s got to be one of the worst defenders I’ve ever seen.
