Miguel Almiron assaulted during Paraguay 2-2 Peru & suffers worrying injury – Video

It’s been a torrid evening for Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron on Thursday night.

The Toon playmaker played in Paraguay’s first game of South America’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Peru, but was in the wars in more ways than one.

On the 17th minute, he was practically assaulted by Peru’s Carlos Zambrano in what can only described as a disgusting challenge – yet VAR had a look and only deemed it worthy of a yellow!

An absolutely shambolic decision – yet it only gets worse.

He was able to get up, play on and looked set to see the game out until he pulled up with a muscle injury in the 97th minute of the game – a blow that saw him leave the field on a cart.

The match ended 2-2, but the injury sustained could yet see him miss our clash with Man Utd next weekend if it’s a bad one.

A shocking elbow to the face and a worrying muscle issue for our Paraguayan playmaker that doesn’t look good

Not the best start to his spell back in South America during the dreaded international break. Let’s hope his late exit was just precautionary and not a sign of a pulled muscle!

  2. FIFA should look at this offence and give demote the officials and ban the thug from football with a hefty fine.
This incident is intensional and sickening.
