Journalist claims Newcastle are eyeing up January bargain for in-form Celtic star

According to Alan Nixon, Newcastle United are interested in Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie.

His piece for the Scottish Sun states that ourselves, Burnley and Ligue 1 side OGC Nice are all in the mix and feel he could leave on a cut-price deal in the new year as he enters the final 18 months of his contract.

Nixon states that Nice value the midfielder at around £10m, but it’s believed he could leave for less in the January transfer window – not that Neil Lennon will be keen on losing a key player as they chase ten in a row and another treble.

Christie is a 25-year-old attacking midfielder and has been in impressive form over the first few weeks of the 2020/21 season, bagging three goals and SEVEN assists in 13 games so far.

This comes after his stunning campaign last year, which saw him bag 19 goals and 16 assists for the SPL giants.

One to watch in the new year? We shall see.
