Steve Bruce set to announce this official 25-man squad soon – 4 miss out if they’re not sold?

It’ll soon be time for Steve Bruce to officially name his 25-man squad for the 2020/21 Premier League season.

It seems a bit bizarre that these squads get finalised after the season started but I guess that’s the nature of football and the transfer deadlines.

Although we’re still able to buy from the Championship until October 16th and there’s plenty handy free agents about, I get the feeling Bruce is happy with his lot and this will be the group we go with until January.

So, it would seem we’re stuck with what we’ve got? Remembering that 21’s and under (Matty Longstaff) don’t have to be registered in the 25, I make out this year’s squad to be as follows:

GOALKEEPERS – Martin Dubravka, Karl Darlow, Mark Gillespie

DEFENDERS – Javier Manquillo, Emil Krafth, DeAndre Yedlin, Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernandez, Fabian Schar, Ciaran Clark, Paul Dummett, Jamal Lewis.

MIDFIELDERS – Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Jeff Hendrick, Sean Longstaff, Matt Ritchie, Miguel Almiron, Ryan Fraser, Allan Saint-Maximin, Jacob Murphy

FORWARDS – Callum Wilson, Joelinton, Andy Carroll, Dwight Gayle

Not sure what that means for Henri Saivet, Achraf Lazaar or Roland Aarons but they might not care as long as they’re getting paid. Christian Atsu also missed out, however he’s expected to sign for Forest or Watford before the Championship window closes later this week.

I don’t think I’ve missed anyone. I also believe that squad should achieve a comfortable mid-table position possibly just inside the top ten and should never be anywhere near the relegation places. Time will tell.
