It wasn’t long ago Newcastle scouts were watching Said Benrahma strut his stuff at Brentford, however it looks like the Algerian star will now complete a big-money move to West Ham.
This comes from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who claims the Hammers have agreed a £30m deal for the exciting winger.
The Daily Star reported over the weekend that ourselves and Fulham had also shown ‘interest’, however we’ll still benefit from his seemingly imminent move to West Ham.
Why? Because Brentford’s star man will no longer be playing in our Carabao Cup quarter final in West London in December!
The skilful wide man is someone I wanted to see us look at over the summer and is capable of bringing that Hatem Ben Arfa-esque magic to the Premier League, however his absence only boosts our chances of making it through to the semi-final of the cup in a few months time!
Don’t get me wrong, they still have several other talented players, with ex-Mag Ivan Toney likely to be licking his lips ahead of his reunion with the club that rejected him, however there can be no denying that Benrahma is their game changer.
He’s bagged two goals in three games for the Bees so far this season and has weighed in with 28 goals and 27 assists for Brentford over the past two years.
It’s also worth noting that a move to West Ham is only possible as the EFL window shuts on October 16th, giving them the chance to sign the man deemed to be the second tier’s star man!
