Bruce handed big injury boost – SIX players spotted in training & forgotten man returns

If the latest set of training pictures are anything to go by, Steve Bruce has been handed a series of welcome fitness boosts ahead of Saturday’s clash with Manchester United.

Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett all sat out of our 3-1 win over Burnley almost a fortnight ago, but all three defenders were seen in action at the club’s Benton training base today.

Forgotten man Matty Longstaff is also back for the first time in several weeks, with him yet to appear for the club since signing that new deal over the summer.

Elsewhere, Jamal Lewis also appears to be fine – despite missing Northern Ireland’s final game of the international break for a scan on an ‘achilles injury’.

And, last but not least, Fabian Schar’s shoulder appears to be absolutely fine. He came off holding his shoulder in the Burnley win, but he’s since played three times for Switzerland over the international break and has returned unscathed.

Miguel Almiron isn’t in any of the training pictures, with him playing in Paraguay’s World Cup qualifier with Venezuela on Tuesday night, however he’s expected to be back on Tyneside tomorrow.

Henri Saivet and DeAndre Yedlin also feature in the photos, suggesting no moves are imminent for the duo who appear to be way down the pecking order under Steve Bruce.
