Saint-Maximin’s new wage revealed & Bruce tells 4 players how they’ll earn a new deal – Report

The Chronicle report that Newcastle United have almost DOUBLED Allan Saint-Maximin‘s wage packet when he signed his new Toon deal.

Despite being just one year into a six-year deal the Frenchman was offered new terms of £70,000 a week – a huge increase from his previous £36,000 contract.

This places him firmly in the club’s top earners column, which is no surprise considering the impact he has had on our fortunes since his arrival 14 months ago

The Chronicle also state that Bruce has told FOUR first-team players that they must impress in order to earn themselves a longer stay on Tyneside.

Gayle, Carroll, Fernandez and Clark’s contracts are all set to expire at the end of the season and the manager has told them to go and leave the club with no option but to offer them a new deal.

Fernandez would seem the obvious choice to be handed a contract, as the Argentine has excelled under Bruce – forcing himself into the starting line-up despite being SIXTH choice when the gaffer arrived.

Sean Longstaff is also believed to be in talks with the board about penning a new contract and with interest from bigger clubs fizzling out in recent times it seems likely that he will now stay at Newcastle.
