Brilliant news as NUFC food bank hit the £20,000 mark – People in need > Premier League greed

The NUFC food bank have revealed that donations following Saturday night’s game with Man Utd are estimated to have hit £20,000!

A protest movement against Premier League sides’ decision to charge supporters a £14.95 pay-per-view price to watch their clubs in action has been turned into a positive by the Toon Army.

Calls to donate the £15 to the NUFC food bank took off over the weekend with several supporter groups and high-profile journalists endorsing the charitable cause.

The food bank itself posted this on social media, thanking the fans for their generosity:

We doubt that this will get much coverage on Sky and BT as it is a clear rejection of their plans to further monetise the game from our supporters.

It would be interesting to know exactly how many PPV buys were sold for our game with Man Utd over the weekend to see whether the move proved to be a success or not.

A brilliant effort from Mags up and down the country. The best fans in the land – in more ways than one!
