Our U-23’s were beaten in their second Premier League 2 clash of the week on Friday, with West Brom’s Tyrese Dyce scoring late on to secure a 1-0 win.
The second string won at St James’ Park on Monday, with Yannick Toure and Stan Flaherty scoring in a comeback victory over Fulham, but a similarly strong side were beaten in today’s 2pm kick off.
Matty Longstaff was handed another start and played the full 90 on his comeback from a long-term thigh injury, with summer signings Rodrigo Vilca and Bradley Cross also included in Chris Hogg’s starting 11.
Forgotten man Achraf Lazaar also played his second game in a week, with Paul Dummett and Ciaran Clark’s absence following run outs on Monday suggesting they are in contention to return to Bruce’s first-team squad at Wolves.
Last but not least, Florent Indalecio came on for his debut on the half-hour mark, featuring for the first time in a black and white shirt since signing a one-year deal with the club following a successful trial.
