In an explosive (yet totally justified) rant, Chris Sutton has accused NUFC of playing anti-football to gain a point against Wolves on Sunday.
Speaking on Radio 5 Live, Sutton expressed his discontent in Newcastle consistently playing ‘boring’ football – despite emphasising that he is in fact a fan of the job Steve Bruce is currently doing.
It was certainly difficult viewing and Wolves will have felt so hard done by to drop two points against such a negative team, as they dominated the game.
Here’s what Sutton had to say
“Was that not anti-football?
“They were so negative and so boring.”
“They were awful weren’t they? There wasn’t a lot of intent.
“I’m a big fan of Steve Bruce and I think he has done a good job but come on, that was pitiful from Newcastle.”
I’m glad there’s now a couple of mainstream pundits exposing the lack of intent in our side at the moment.
There’s no plan when attacking – that’s for sure.
We also seem to use a different team every week and consequently we’re devoid of any footballing identity – especially when you compare us to the likes of Wolves and Leeds.

Why is he a fan of Bruce? This is endemic of many pundits especially Shearer. At least Sutton has the dangelies to make a constructive criticism of Bruceless, however the fan bit is ridiculous.
