Brilliant photo shows Toon duo’s surprise visit to local Food Bank – A touch of class in tough times

Paul Dummett and Mark Gillespie have been snapped helping out for a charitable cause at NUFC’s West End food bank.

The Geordie duo dropped in unannounced to volunteer on Tuesday and donate a car-full of food and drink – prompting Toon fans to praise the players for their efforts.

Here’s what the NUFC Fans Food Bank shared on their Twitter page following the surprise visit:

Footballer’s have been rightfully applauded over the last couple of months for their generosity, with Marcus Rashford’s free school meals campaign and top flight players NHS scheme earning plaudits from the public.

Our own Isaac Hayden was in the spotlight the other day when it was revealed he offered to help out the food bank back in March but didn’t want his good deed put out in the open at the time.

It’s good to see – and goes to show that not all footballers are selfish, arrogant, overpaid prima donnas – which has generally been considered the stereotype since the advent of the Premier League.

Hats off to Dummett and Gillespie for their unannounced visit and act of kindness during these tough times!
