Big injury update on Danny Ings arrives from Hasenhüttl ahead of Southampton vs Newcastle

Ralph Hasenhüttl has confirmed that Southampton star Danny Ings will miss Friday’s clash with Newcastle United.

The striker felt awkwardly on his knee in their 4-3 win at Aston Villa over the weekend and, although the injury isn’t quiet as bad as first feared, the Saints boss has revealed he’ll be out for 4-6 weeks following surgery tomorrow.

Here’s what Hasenhüttl’s had to say in his pre-match presser in the last few moments:

“At the moment it looks like he is out for 4-6 weeks.

“He’ll have a small surgery tomorrow morning.

“It could be worse, but he’ll be out and it’s not good news for us.”

A huge blow for the Saints but a big boost for our chances on Friday night, with Ings being Southampton’s star man and one of the best strikers in the Premier League across over the past 18 months.

In fact, Mo Salah (17) is the only top flight player to have scored more than Danny Ings’ 15 across 2020, with the England striker being involved in SEVEN goals in Southampton’s seven league games so far this season.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been boosted by a weakened opposition, with Martial suspended and Cavani in quarantine for Man Utd’s trip to Tyneside and Rodriguez, Digne, Richarlison and Coleman’s absence helping us beat Everton at SJP last Sunday!

Hopefully we can take advantage on Friday night, as he’ll be a big miss for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s high-flying side!
