NUFC wonderkid signs new deal after Steve Bruce hands him first team call-up – Official

Newcastle United have confirmed in the last few moments that the highly-rated Elliot Anderson has signed a new ‘long-term’ contract with the club.

The deal hands the Whitley Bay wonderkid a perfect birthday present, with him turning 18 today!

As revealed earlier this week, the attacking midfielder was recently called up to train with senior side by Steve Bruce, with him coming close to his first team debut in that Carabao Cup win over Newport after being named in our matchday squad.

Here’s what the former Wallsend Boys Club star has told NUFC.co.uk since putting pen to paper today:

“It’s a year on from my first one and when I got told that they were going to offer me a new contract, I was buzzing,”

“I didn’t really expect it but it makes you want to keep pushing on and see that rewards are given here.

It helps you keep going and I’m really pleased.”

Interestingly, Anderson is the grandson of Geoff Allen – the former Newcastle United winger who played for the club during the 1960s and was part of the squad which famously won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup back in 1969.

Great news for the youngster and a real one to watch over the coming years, with the Scotland U-19 international believed to be the club’s most talented U-23 at present.

  1. And yet when we were crying out for goals we had a real talent in Elias Sorensen who has been farmed out on another loan when he should be training with the first team to bring him through.

20 goals a season for the U23s and now 2 in 4 for his new loan team.
