Watch explosive interview from NUFC star as he brutally calls out Toon teammates – Video

Fabian Schär dished out some brutal post-match truths to his team-mates in the wake of our defeat to Southampton.

The Swiss international labelled the team performance ‘****’ and his overall tone was one of complete disgust, with him saying “everything!” when asked by NUFC TV what he and his team could’ve done better on Friday night.

The 29-year-old was one of several players who were completely off the pace; constantly giving the ball away whilst having no answer to Southampton’s constant pressure.

Here’s a clip from his chat with NUFC TV, followed by quotes from his explosive post-mach interview:

“Everybody had a **** game, to be honest,”

“We have to look in the mirror.

We can’t continue like this.

“We had a good game (in the 2-1 home win against) Everton, then we start a game like this.

“All the players need to come together more.

“It’s what we need to think about – everybody needs to look at themselves and do a better job.

“I don’t think we can keep going like that.

“If we keep playing like that, it’s not enough.”

It was an awful performance from the ‘team’ who looked completely disjointed and uninterested through much of the game, so Schär is bang on here in what is a refreshingly honest interview.

He also went on to say that it was better that NUFC weren’t able to make the trip to St Mary’s, as ‘there was nothing to enjoy’.

At the very least it’s comforting to see him take account for his errors, but that’s not quite enough.

Performances like Friday aren’t acceptable, yet a defeat like this was coming given how often we’ve rode our luck and played poorly.
