Newcastle make ‘move’ for M’Bala Nzola ahead of the January transfer window – Report

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle United are interested in signing Spezia’s star striker M’Bala Nzola.

This comes from Tuttosport, who report that both ourselves and West Ham have ‘moved’ for the 24-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.

Nzola has been in impressive form in Serie A this season, with his two goals and one assist in four appearances helping Spezia move up to 13th in their first ever season in the Italian top flight.

Here’s what his agent recently had to say about the Frenchman, suggesting he should complete his first season in the Italian top flight before considering any big move elsewhere:

“I think M’Bala must now consolidate his experience in Serie A.

Then he’ll be ready for the five most important European championships: England, France, Spain, Germany and precisely Italy”.

We may need another option up top, with Gayle currently out and injury prone, Carroll unreliable and way past his best and Joelinton clearly not a natural striker, however it seems like Nzola would be another risk based on his lack of experience at the top.

Here’s the 6ft 1′ striker in action:
