Saudi takeover – The Premier League issue “substantive” response to NCSL legal threat

The Newcastle Consortium Supporters Group Limited (NCSL) have confirmed in the last few moments that the Premier League have now issues a 9-page response to their ‘Letter Before Action’.

This comes THREE weeks on from their initial letter to the Premier League, which accused top flight decision makers of violating UK anti-competition law during the Saudi takeover process.

The Premier League then asked 14-day extension as they prepared to respond to the legal threat – only for this request to be DENIED by the NCSL.

The group hoping to reverse the takeover decision have today confirmed that they’ve received a “substantive” response from the EPL, saying it has no been passed over to Robert O’Donoghue – the QC on the case to fight this legal battle.

Here’s what they’ve tweeted in the last few moments:

It may be a long shot, but let’s hope something comes of this after an exhausting wait for proper answers and total clarity on the Saudi takeover that never was.

Either way, it’s great to see the NCSL put up a fight for a VERY good cause.

Hopefully it’s a positive response which offers transparency and a glimpse of hope for us NUFC fans.

It’s not a long shot. It’s total 8l00dy lunacy without a grain of basis.

    Absolutely. Pure harassment.
Got to love the Toon Army … they really screwed with the wrong fans.
Hardened and tested fighters … bring it on Masters and Hoffman.
    Pass our takeover.
