Bruce launches explosive attack on Miguel Almiron’s agent ahead of talks with NUFC star

Steve Bruce has launched a quite brilliant attack on Miguel Almiron’s agent, Daniel Campos, following his stunning claims about the Newcastle United star’s future over the international break.

As you will have seen, Campos claimed that Almiron would’ve left Newcastle by now had COVID-19 not struck – drumming up alleged interest from Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and some “big English clubs” in a series of outspoken interviews.

The NUFC boss was handed his first chance to respond to these comments in his press conference this morning, and he hasn’t held back, calling Campos a “two-bob agent” who has acted both ‘amateurishly’ towards his client and ‘disrespectfully’ towards the club he represents.

Here’s what he’s had to say this morning:

“I couldn’t miss them because they were so outrageous.

“A two-bob agent acting so amateurishly. It’s disrespectful to us all & to the club who has served Miguel so well.”

“It borders on being so disrespectful, it’s scary, and smacks of amateurism… a poor agent, who should know better, when he has a client as good as Almiron is.

Why would you want to put your client in that situation?”

“I’ve said what a great pro and a great lad he is.

“If HE comes to me and says there’s a problem, then of course I’ll sit up and listen.

“What I won’t do is take it from a two-bob agent.

“I’d be disgusted, if I was Miggy, at my agency saying those things.”

Bruce then continued, insisting that Almiron has been nothing but a pleasure to work with and a ‘great pro’, although he accepts he’ll need to have a chat with the 26-year-old following some unsettling comments from his agent:

“I’ve had the pleasure to work with Miguel Almiron for 15 months.

“He’s a great pro and a great kid, but his agent leaves a lot to be desired.

“He has a great attitude and appreciates what the club have given him.”

“The agent, it proves to me it’s just an amateur looking to make a fast buck again, which is ridiculous.

“I haven’t seen Miguel yet as he’s only back today but I will talk to him

Well said, Steve!

Who knows, maybe Almiron will tell him that he isn’t 100% happy on Tyneside during talks today, but the way Campos went about his business over the international break showed a total lack of respect.
