Newcastle 0-2 Chelsea: Passive, pathetic and pretty lucky it wasn’t six

Yet another pathetic attempt to win a game of football from Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United, with us hugely fortunate to lose by just two goals against a wasteful Chelsea who should’ve scored five or six.

In the end, it was a Federico Fernandez own goal and second half strike from Tammy Abraham that did the damage, yet it never felt for a moment like we were in the game, with us sitting deep throughout, failing to commit bodies forward or throw a glove on Frank Lampard’s in-form side at either end of the pitch.

The least I expected was a response from that abysmal display at Southampton, yet what was served up was just as bad. Chelsea were good – but we were so bad they should’ve won by a cricket score without ever really breaking a sweat or getting out of 2nd gear.

Steve Bruce made FOUR changes to the side that struggled badly two weeks ago at Southampton. Callum Wilson failed a late fitness test, meaning Joelinton started up top, Hayden came in for Hendrick, Clark replaced Schar and Manquillo came back in at right wing-back – allowing Murphy to feature higher up in more of a 5-4-1.

The game kicked off and, aside from Joelinton’s powerful burst infield in the first 30 seconds, it didn’t take Chelsea long to force a very good stop out of who else but Karl Darlow.

After Timo Werner was slipped in down the left, his shot across goal heading for the bottom corner if it wasn’t for a superb touch from the stopper to tip just wide.

That was an early warning sign, but another huge chance and big save arrived just five minutes later, with Karl Darlow stopping a point blank Tammy Abraham header from a sumptuous cross from Hakim Ziyech.

Sadly, Chelsea then got the early lead they deserved via a Mason Mount cross that was awkwardly turned into his own goal by Federico Fernandez. Awful defending on the whole from a basic short corner and a totally unconvincing attempt from the Argentine to clear his lines.

A poor goal to concede, but we can’t say it wasn’t coming, with us lucky to be just 0-1 down at this point.

Over 80 minutes to go, yet it already felt like we had a mountain to climb, with the visitors enjoying 85% of the ball at this point. Yes, EIGHTY-five.

Plan A (if there even was one) to sit back, frustrate Chelsea and hope to nick one at the other end as we did last season was gone, but there was no sign of plan B as we remained stuck in our own half, failing to press and continuing to leave Joelinton as the only player who wasn’t stuck behind the ball.

Just before the half-hour mark, Werner then missed a golden chance to make it 2-0, scuffing wide after waltzing through our five-man defence like it wasn’t even there.

We’d only had SIX touches in their final third at this point, had 19% of the ball and should’ve been 0-3 down, only for a few decent openings to emerge for Allan Saint-Maximin – who’d been on the fringes of the game at this point.

After his clever back-heel just failed to get Jamal Lewis in on goal, he then squared up a Chelsea defender and looked in a great position to score after cutting in well, only for his shot to be blocked.

A rare moment in the opposition half and two decent openings, but quite telling that neither forced Mendy into making a save. Still, a sign that this Chelsea defence can be got at if we got ASM on the ball in good areas, at least, however this game was only going one way if we didn’t get out our own half and closer to a painfully isolated Joelinton.

Half-time and we could count ourselves lucky to be just 0-1 down in what was a pathetically passive display full of misplaced passes, a lack of pressing and poor defending.

To sum up the extent of that diabolical first 45, Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma completed just five passes less (65) than the ENTIRE Newcastle side (70), with us also making just ONE tackle up to this point.

The second half started and there was one change, with Jamal Lascelles hobbling off with a knee injury and Fabian Schar coming on in his place.

We had a little more of the ball in the opening stages, but intensity levels were still lacking and, yet again, it wasn’t long until Timo Werner got in behind.

He made the most of some horrific defending from Schar, robbing the Swiss centre-back and bearing down on goal – only for an unselfish pass across the box to Hakim Ziyech being under-hit and easily intercepted.

Yet again I was left wondering how it was only 0-1, but the longer we kept them out at that end – albeit fortunately – the more chance we had of nicking the most undeserved draws, with Hayden smashing over a big chance (that might’ve been penalised as a handball had he scored) and Joelinton side-footing a decent chance just over the bar after finding space on the edge of the area.

They were our big moments to get back into the game, but normal service was resumed soon after via another marauding run from Timo Werner – only this time it ended in a goal.

The German burst through several black and white bodies on the counter, cut inside and slipped Tammy Abraham in on goal, who made no mistake in sliding the ball past Darlow and in off the post. 0-2, game over and no less than Chelsea deserved.

With 20 minutes left, Sean Longstaff gave us a rare moment to enjoy. His 30-yard strike looked destined for the top corner to give us a late lifeline, only for it to clip the bar and fly into the Gallowgate End for a goal kick.

We now had two options. Either go for it and risk a hammering or sit back and accept our fate. Based on Bruce’s decision to take off ASM and bring on Andy Carroll – who hasn’t scored a PL goal for over three years – it’s fair to say he went for the latter.

The offside flag then saved us from going 0-3 down after Werner rounded Darlow and poked home, then Mason Mount was the latest Chelsea player to get in behind a few moments later – only for his effort to be scuffed wide.

After coming on for the disappointing Manquillo, Almiron’s had a deflected effort saved by Mendy following some good work from Joelinton, but it was all too little too late, with us waiting until the 80t minute mark to test the Senegalese stopper.

In a moment that summed up our total lack of attacking intent, we had a throw-in next to the corner flag with seven minutes to play – yet it took as many seconds for us to play the ball all the way back to Karl Darlow…

Chelsea look a very good side, but we paid them too much respect and could’ve easily lost 0-5 on another day in what was a passive, pathetic and ultimately pointless watch at St James’ Park.

Next up we face Palace (a), Aston Villa (a), West Brom (h), Leeds (a) and Fulham (h). Fail to improve over what promises to be a season-defining festive period and we’ll be in serious trouble.

  1. Steve Bruce….call yrself a Geordie….my God, if you had 1 gramme of self respect you would resign and give us a half chance.
    Even Carver wasn’t this bad…!

  2. Olly – fair play mate, I don’t know where you’ve found the will to put this article together. You’ve shown more commitment than anyone wearing a NUFC top in SJP today that’s for sure.

I don’t know what’s left to be said that hasn’t already 100 times over.

It was actually nice having a 2 week break from it having watched that.

  3. We looked better in the second half but still rarely looked like scoring whilst being very vulnerable at the back as we pressed forward just a smidge. 30% possession and 1 shot on target. I dont know, it sort of went as expected, but that 1st half… that was unbelievably bad.

Even if Joelinton has a totally free look at goal he still cant hit the target FFS.

Bruce will complain about social media but he also just gave up, taking St Max off to save him for our next game.

    Are there any positives?

    Darlow continues to impress.

2nd half was not quite as bad as some of the games we have seen this season – S’ton, Spurs, Wolves, Man U.

  4. Did Chelsea have another gear and were content to pick us off on the break in the 2nd half? Certainly, definately, absolutely. They knew we did not have a competent striker on the pitch or on the bench.

  6. I don’t think Rafa would have demanded much more urgency today.

But, our defence would be solid & can anyone else remember when Hayden & Longstaff bossed the midfield?. In games under Rafa they ran the show – today they didn’t even compete. I don’t think Longstaff even made a challenge – ran around a lot but didn’t put his foot in once.

I’m not singling those 2 out coz no Newcastle player showed any urgency in closing the play and chasing Chelsea players down – unlike Chelsea in the rare occasions we had the ball.

It’s just awful and Bruce says in his post match interview ‘there’s always rumblings’ – justify being bottom of every stat table!!. Explain how you were trying to get anything out of today’s game? – or alternatively, just keep going as you are – coz with every game you are proving us right ??‍♂️.

Agree, but Mike still won’t sack him and his media mates keep making excuses for him it seems. Only Jake at BT Sports calls him out.

Kim – I thought Jake done a brilliant job today of calling out Bruce without disrespecting him. Everything he said today was factual without being offensive.

But you are dead right. If Bruce keeps scrapping up points along the way, then he will never be at risk of the sack under Ashley.

I don’t know what will come of Ashley suing the PL – whether that will result in a come back bid from the Saudis – I think it’s highly unlikely – but I think that’s the only way of getting Bruce out. Unless he goes of a McClaren or Carver type run & we get cut adrift in the bottom 3 – but I don’t see that happening either. I think we’re stuck with him.

  9. Chelsea won at a canter really. Given that, it might seem unfair to pick on one player. But Schar was a total liability AGAIN. I dont think he wants to be at NUFC. I think his contract is up at the end of the season.

If Lascelles is out we should switch to a back 4 or hope that Dummett’s latest setback is not too bad and play him at Centre Back.

Errr… I mean 19 because Trump went golfing instead. With the Pandemic raging and an economic crisis in full flow, Trump went golfing. They love to call the US President the “leader of the free world” over here. Did Trump show any leadership? No, he went golfing.

When Biden takes office Trump is not going away. He will be a divisive presence on TV (Maybe even his own channel) and will be stoking up the loonies who think the election was stolen and CV-19 is a hoax.

It is up to the US, and indeed world, media to just ignore him. They hang on every lunatic tweet at the moment. When he is out of office the best thing to do will be to just block him.

  14. Icedog: we were OK for about 10 minutes as Chelsea switched off. They knew that Werner would hurt us with his pace anyway, so they werent bothered. That is exactly what happened for the 2nd goal. Of course Chelsea should have been out of sight in the 1st half anyway where Bruce said we MAYBE sat a bit deep. No **** Sherlock!!! And we all knew we would. All you had to do was take a look on here to know that everyone predicted your tactics. You even told Lampard before the game what we would do (as if he didnt know already). Bruce is not just clutching at straws he is clutching at a farmer’s field of hay bales.

He even said Joelinton had a good game. If by that you mean missing our best chance when having a free look at goal, then yes. When are the Pundits going to change their tune from fans being delusional to Bruce being delusional. Just watch a game and match it with Bruce’s comments and they will know what we mean. They just have no credibility.

  15. Paul Merson’s Giant Balloon Heed is saying we are delusional for thinking we can get top 8 and we would need to spend 700 million to achieve it. What Merse? Like Leiceter, have you seen their net spend? Close to ours over the past 2 years. Or Wolves. Or even Southampton. Even Spurs havent spent a fortune and Arsenal, his old club, were notoriously frugal until they dropped out of the top 4. That was their fans’ biggest complaint. That they had money but wouldnt spend it as long as Wenger got them Champions League.

How do these people have jobs? They seem to live in an alternative reality. Maybe they should apply for a job at Trump TV?

  16. And, who on here predicted top 8? NO-ONE. I went for 12th because we have a decent squad now but always with the proviso it could go t!ts up because of Bruce. I predicted relegation this year around Xmas time last year. I thought we recruited well though adding at least 3 first team players – Wilson, Fraser and Lewis – so I didnt think we would be in trouble. We still shouldnt be, but Bruce has to get his **** together quickly before our Xmas schedule which could send the whole of Tyneside into a depression and put us on a Bruce special death spiral. Last one was Villa and they got promoted the same season they fired him!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ice – love a one sided story me. So she was bitten on the leg by a police dog – hardly a ‘mauling’ as they write.
Pretty simple for me – she shouldn’t have been there and she wouldn’t have got bit.

I know that the handlers never let the dog off in a situation like that, so she has also put herself close enough to the cop & his dog for it to bite her.

The cops all wear body cam so it will come out in the investigation. But the government should allow the police to realise some of this footage of d!ckheads holding these raves & the confrontation the police face each time they are going into these situations.

Gilly – I think we have a better squad – same as Brighton. I think we have a better group of players than all of the teams below us and I’d probably lump Palace in there as well.

I think our group are probably on par with Saints & Villa – and yet we find ourselves at the bottom of every stat table you could draw up.

Potter has gone into Brighton & without spending a fortune, has turned them into a real footballing side. I don’t know if you watched them yesterday but they were playing 3 CBs and fun to watch!!.

Ralph has Saints playing excellent football – they played us off the park and they are a team who have continued to sell their best players for that last 5 years or more.

There are plenty of managers who can get the best out of the group of players they have without demanding big money spent in the transfer windows.

The issue we have, as always is that Ashley wants out. He’s not going to waste millions in compensation sacking Bruce & bringing someone else in just to give the fans better football, when he wants out.

We are stuck with it until either a takeover happens or Bruce starts to slip down the table and into that relegation battle – and while WBA, Fulham, Sheff Utd and Burnley are doing as badly as they are there is no fear of that either ☹️?

  19. Remember Rafa got rid of Tim Krul because he didnt trust his distribution? He got Dubravka partly because he was better with his feet and wanted to play out from the back more. It partially worked and we had ball playing centre halfs like Legeune and Schar. That was the plan anyway, but we have totally regressed under Bruce and I think it has got steadily worse.

The defense dont even want the ball. The default plan, even if there is a player available is to hit a back-pass to Darlow who will blast it forward to the one player we have on the half way line. I do not blame Darlow at all in this. He is put in a situation where he has the opposition bearing down on him, with no NUFC players making themselves available and he has no choice but to hoof it.

We all know what happens next. We have one attacker against 3 defenders and the opposition are able to set up again and start another wave. It is like going back in time 4 years to Schteve, Pards and Ugly John. Maybe people are right in calling these English Managers dinosaurs because they did all play the same way. Remember Schteve experimented with a sort of high press and then just gave up on it.

Our only other “tactic” is for Miggy or St Max to bring it out but they tend to be on their own and are quickly surrounded by 3 opposition players.

I think I would rather have Shelvey playing quarterback and succeeding once every 3 games than this. Bruce seems to blame the players for sitting too deep, but who coaches them. And who told us yesterday what they were going to do?

“Lucky” Steve Bruce was very lucky we didnt face James Rodriguez and Richarlison.

How long can Bruce’s luck hold out? We have 5 points this year from pure luck – Everton, Wolves, Spurs. And every time we play a high press team we are found out – Brighton and Southampton, but also Man U when they realised we were playing for a point.

  22. Sharpy: We haven’t even used our loans FFS. It must be as clear as the nose on Phil Thomson’s face that we need a dominant midfielder. I am sure we can get one in Jan.

The main plan though should be addition by subtraction of Bruce. This squad, with a good CM is mid-table at worst. There are usually loan players from the big clubs abroad in January who havent seen much playing time – as long as you are willing to pay a sizable loan fee.

  23. Just to carry on with my Central Midfielder observation. It is clear now that is our weakest position IF Wilson stays fit because we are **** up front as well without him.

I have seen enough of Hendrick now to know that he is Burnley standard, which means bottom 5 PL, top 5 Championship. I hadnt really watched him before he came here.

Then the cherry on top of the CM cake is that Bruce is playing Miggy out of position there.

Longstaff has only shown that his first 10 games might have been the abberration and that he did not deserve the hype.

And Shelvey is Shelvey. You have to play to his game, so he might be OK against weaker teams but will be a liability against the top half.

Eric – you are right mate & with the Euros in the summer, there will be players sat wanting game time to help their international chances.

Just saw Loftus Cheek come on for Fulham – a big physical midfielder. That’s exactly what we need – a Tiote or Diame type presence in our midfield.

But I go back to the fact that under Rafa, Hayden & Longstaff were bossing the midfield – I know Longstaff has had a long road back from a nasty injury, but he looks fit again now. He covered a lot of ground yesterday, but ran round a bit aimlessly for me. Bruce will say he’s allow the players to play with freedom – but we all know that’s b0ll0cks.

Potter & Nuno both have their teams playing 3 CBs but have the balance of defence @ attack & have their players playing with a discipline & workrate that means they compete & are watchable.

  27. We need 6 points from the next 5 games to keep our heads above water. That gets us to 17 points. After the 3 bad losses at Xmas and New Year that would be 17 from 17. Not good but you basically need a point a game to GUARANTEE you wont be relegated.

If we are not there, then the Saudi’s will walk away and wait until we are cheaper in The Championship. They would only need to pay half the price.

17 points from 17 games gives us a good chance of staying up WITH A NEW MANAGER.

Anything less, and we are in real trouble. We would probably have to need the 3 **** teams to get like 32 points each for us to stay up. That is possible, but it would be a mutiny among fans.

You know I’ve not been convinced by all of the advice SAGE give the government – particularly regarding this latest lockdown & on face masks before that (in that they were saying not to use them which I didn’t agree with).

This fella is clearly no mad scientist or amateur who once read a book on germs. I can’t imagine you get to Vice President of the company who have developed the vaccine without knowing your stuff – albeit ex Vice President.

He puts forward a very detailed and rationale argument – and it’s the very thing that us to public aren’t getting. What I suppose is understandable if the government are trying to push an agenda.

But what’s worrying is that he’s saying the government aren’t getting right information – 7 month in and coming to the end of a second lockdown & that’s just not acceptable imo. Why? are they only listening to the ones they like? Are they getting this information & deciding to ignore it?. I know the argument is we aren’t the only Country in this position, but is that coz the other countries are also taking the wrong advice?.

Or is this fella sour grapes coz he’s the ex Vice President of the company who stands to make an absolute fortune from the vaccine?!
He certainly doesn’t come across that way – but he was sat in a garage with a half built bike ?

This fella is clearly no mad scientist or amateur who once read a book on germs.I can’t imagine you get to Vice President of the company who have developed the vaccine without knowing your stuff – albeit ex Vice President.

Are they getting this information & deciding to ignore it?.I know the argument is we aren’t the only Country in this position, but is that coz the other countries are also taking the wrong advice?.

Or is this fella sour grapes coz he’s the ex Vice President of the company who stands to make an absolute fortune from the vaccine?!
He certainly doesn’t come across that way – but he was sat in a garage with a half built bike

Personally I don’t believe the governments around the world are prepared to go against the mainstream views. If it’s wrong and there is 250,000 deaths would any government survive that? It’s also worth noting that the economic fall out which will in my opinion kill more people than Covid is likely to be someone else’s problem in 5-10 years time.

However what really pisses me off is the scientists have tunnel vision. They don’t see anything else and they aren’t prepared to compromise. The tiers were working. They were slowing it down yet it wasn’t fast enough so they made up this ridiculous 50,000 cases a day nonsense and 4,000 deaths per day chart.

I still, for the life of me understand why we can’t just shield the vulnerable. It’s as clear as day who this thing kills. It could t be any clearer ffs yet we ruin everyone’s lives instead of profiling.

    Madness absolute madness.

SHARPY my girl has been attacked twice lataly once quite bad, policewere called said they would be out when we can,”three days” later they got in touch by phone they pulled the mental health card,so nowt was done,i just wish she would pack it in,but she likes helping people silly swine, for what,12 hr shifts 6 days a week does nobody any good imo

Ice – ive got nothing but respect for paramedics mate. It’s so demanding & a lot of people they deal with now are p!ssed, high or mental. It takes a special type of person willing to help people knowing their is risk to themselves.
I think the demand on emergency service workers is crazy now. I know like the ambulance service, police pretty much have the staff to cope with what comes in when I comes in. Can’t blame the first responders, it’s lack of funds and resources over many years.
I know there was a drive to recruit paramedics as there has been police – but I wonder if that takes a hit now with the cost of Covid.

  42. I have watched most games this weekend and there has only been 1 team playing:

    HOOF AND HOPE.

    That is NUFC.

Even Fulham, even Sheff Utd, they had structure. They had some sort of plan.

    Not 9-0-1.

Hoof and hope!!!! We are Shyte. The worst team to watch in the PL. FCK off Steve Bruce.

  43. I am telling you man. Watching Liverpool and Leicester and it is fun to watch.

    Comparing games again:

The rest of the league play pinball and we play scrabble.

Last time I played scabble was with my ex-mother-in law and that was the 2nd least enjoyable 2 hours of my life – after NUFC against BHA this year.

Stu – to be fair the scientists should only have the input on science, economists on the economy and so on – all that information and advice goes into the pot and the government & their advisory teams then formulate an overall plan.
It’s not as easy as said to be fair, almost impossible – but I think they should make a decision and stick with it – and the fact they don’t is what frustrates me.
The tier system is the perfect example. They were calling for a 2 week circuit break but Boris opted for the tier system – no issue with that. But the media & Starmer kept on about the lockdown and in the end he buckled and went 4 weeks.

I think all the u-turns and constant changing of approach is only making the management of it more difficult.

I think we’ve seen and heard from Boris & Hancock too much throughout. All the media they have done would have been time better spent with the experts fully understanding & getting to grips with things. Have a media person giving the updates – but they will be the ones held to account at the end of it all, so they should be giving it 100% attention imo.

  45. I watched the Liverpool game & I think Klopp is the best manager in the World having watched that game – and Pep, for as good as he is couldn’t lace his boots.

Klopp is missing some huge players for them, and yet you’d never know. The fringe players coming in are every bit as motivated as the first choice missing players. Leicester are a good team imo, but Liverpool dominated them and never looked worried – they were brilliant.
Jota was a decent player at Wolves – but he’s another level at Lpool.

City are missing a few players and look miles off the pace.

Lpool will win the league again this season with Chelsea and Spurs not far off – City will be 4th I reckon

  46. So we have new tier systems after 2nd Dec. More strict. What’s the fucking point?! They’re determined to shut down the hospitality sector for good it seems.

  47. Q: so Steve, we are 15th now. Is this where you expected to be after you got YOUR players in?

A: everybody will always criticize on social media.

Q: but we are playing terrible football?

A: we had a good 10 minutes against Chelsea.

Q: did we have a good anything against Southamton?

A: good fish and chips after the game, not good for my waistline ha ha

Q: Fck off Brucie you fat cnt

I cancelled, and then I booked it again. It is not a social gathering. I am driving around lookig at the scenery and sunsets.

I will be outside all of the time in any bars, social distancing. My only fear was the airports so I got the best mask I could find and also a face shield.

Different to people ignoring rules to not hang out and cough at each other in large numbers at thanksgiving. I promise you that you will get it on the news in 2 weeks when this super spreader event turns to even more cases.

  49. I think I am doing the best I can to live my life and not hurt anybody else. I dont have CV-19. But I am doing my best to stay protected and protect others if by some minisclule chance I have this virus.

I was in Oregon a month ago and the hotels had very strict protocols. They had plexiglass at the checkins. No breakfasts. Instead, they had fruit wrapped in clingfilm that you could take away with you. That was a bit over the top… but I understand.

  50. Bruce is now in full dinosaur mode. You watch every game against every team and it’s so easy to see. They have players who are dashing all over the pitch, running into space, giving options to team mates. Basic pass and move. NUFC line up in the formation you see on tv before the game and bloody well stay there all game. Pass and watch!
It can’t be just Bruce though (don’t know what if any coaching is going on.) The players must know this basic **** but carry on regardless.
This is the worst NUFC I’ve ever seen.

      (Quote)

  51. Actually, it is also – let Miggy and St Max beat 5 opponents.

It work now and again because they are very talented players. But they are coached by an idiot.

BUT, is that your plan you fat, fcn, bagpuss, mrs Doubtfire, lying, cnt, with the worst coaches in the PL who have followed you through countless relegations and 30% win rates, and listened to your boring son and his media pals sticking up for you?

    INCLUDING ALAN SHEARER!!!!

  53. The plan was –

Stay back in the 9-0-1 and let Miggy or St Max take it upfield and create something and hope for the best.

    Now?

We have good players so we may actually get a result DESPITE Bruce and his useless coaches.

    Free Miggy.

    Free St Max.

    Free Wilson

    Free Fraser

    Free Longstaffs

      (Quote)

  54. How can the plan be to defend for 80 minutes and then need Miggy and St Max to beat the opposition’s 7 defendenders and score or assist? That’s his plan! 1 nil to the opposition is a good scoreline for Bruce because he wants a draw.

      (Quote)

  55. We (Bruce and his coaches) were happy with 1 nil at half time. Tell me different?

That was the plan. nil -nil would be better, but that was the plan.

    Snatch a draw.

  59. Well my son and 50 of his school mates have been sent home to isolate for 10 days coz 1 kid in his year group tested positive for COVID – like their education hasn’t suffered enough this year!!. He has no symptoms whatsoever & nor do any of the other kids.
My wife went to collect him from school at 2.15 along with 50 other parents collecting their kids – makes sense & non of them had been fed all day coz they locked them away in a classroom.

I’ve just watched Boris speech which has annoyed me, and the Hancock on GMB refusing to commit to not taking a pay rise – to say my blood is boiling tonight would be an understatement like ???

      (Quote)

  60. Sharpy – There is no way the MP’s will take a wage rise if public sector workers are getting a pay freeze. I’d be surprised if the independent body that decides on their wages actually advises a rise. Although to us it looks ridiculous that Hancock refused to rule out taking his pay rise I’m pretty sure there’s a reason why he wouldn’t. Just politics.

On to football – well kind of. It’s been suggested in the chronicle by a football law expert that the clubs arbitration case against the PL could centre on the issue of whether PIF is a separate legal entity or not which is what the PL got hung up on during the ODT. Assuming the club win and solves that problem do the PL give it the thumbs up or do they have to start the tests again and find another reason to reject it… On the other hand if they find in the PL favour I think that puts paid to the takeover.

    Interesting times ahead.
