Alan Pardew completes surprise return to football after Dutch disaster

Former Toon boss Alan Pardew has been appointed as the new technical director of Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia.

With 2020 turning out to be a bizarre one to say the least, the year from hell churned out another huge surprise when the club announced that they are to hire the ex NUFC manager to assist with player recruitment.

Pardew most recently managed Dutch outfit ADO Den Haag where he couldn’t buy a win during the couple of months he was in charge. A 17th-placed finish would have guaranteed relegation but the COVID-19 outbreak suspended the season indefinitely and Pardew kept them up by default.

In a club statement, CSKA Sofia claim that he will ‘will help with his vast experience and contacts in the overall development of the club and attracting players’, having managed several top clubs in England.

No Newcastle manager has managed to finish higher than Pardew since our 5th placed finish back in 2011/12.
