Paul Gascoigne appeared on Good Morning Britain this week to discuss his relationship with the late Diego Maradona – and spoke of the time the pair were ‘tipsy’ in the tunnel prior to a game!
England hero Gazza played in Italy during the mid 90s for Lazio, but unfortunately did not manage to test himself against the Argentine superstar in Serie A as Maradona had already left Napoli to join Sevilla.
He did, however, play against El Diego in a friendly back in November 1992, a game that Gazza actually scored the equaliser in to grab a 1-1 draw.
Here’s what he had to say about the South American superstar on the ITV show:
The former Newcastle midfielder appeared on the show alongside former England team-mate Peter Shilton, who was in goal on that famous day back in 1986 when Maradona scored two of the most iconic goals in the sport’s history.
RIP Diego, a footballing great taken far too soon.
