Agent responds to claims NUFC have been offered £16m Premier League flop on a free

A fortnight ago, both TEAMtalk and The Chronicle reported that we’d been offered the chance to sign Leicester City flop Ahmed Musa.

The Nigerian star struggled during his stint with the Foxes following a £16m move from CSKA Moscow and is currently a free agent after leaving Saudi side Al Nassr.

Lee Ryder state that we had been ‘monitoring’ his situation and were aware of his availability, but Musa’s agent, Tony Harris, has now rubbished claims that he’s been offered our way.

Here’s his agents short and sweet response to reports claiming Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign him:

“This is not accurate information,”

It would be very like Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United to snap up a freebie who cost a Premier League side £16m just a few years ago, however it seems like any talk of him heading to Tyneside is wide of the mark.

After receiving interest from Sheffield Wednesday, Musa told the BBC this week that he has no interest in dropping down the Championship, instead aiming to get back to the ‘top level in Europe’ following a stint in Saudi:

“I don’t know where the story is coming from because I don’t pay attention to rumours and gossip,”

“With due respect to the club, I left Saudi Arabia to continue my career at the top level in Europe and that’s the ambition.”
