Mike Ashley tells Steve Bruce Saudi takeover uncertainty won’t stop his transfer plans – Report

The Chronicle are reporting that Mike Ashley has assured Steve Bruce that behind the scenes takeover talk will NOT impact incoming business in the January transfer window.

Funds are thought to be available for permanent deals, despite the persistent Saudi rumours, while Lee Ryder reports that a host of potential loan moves are also being considered.

The last transfer window only closed at the start of October and some of our summer arrivals are still yet to settle in on Tyneside, with Ryan Fraser suffering a couple of setbacks as he comes back to full fitness.

While we seem unlikely to see a spending spree in the mould of January 2015 or another Miguel Almiron signing at the £20m mark, it is thought there will still be funds available to bolster our ranks in the window.

The Chronicle also note that a priority for Bruce is to shift out some of the deadwood in the squad who are yet to feature so far this season. Some of them haven’t played a game for Newcastle in years.

DeAndre Yedlin, Henri Saviet, Rolando Aarons, Achraf Lazaar and Christian Atsu will all be high on that list, with Yedlin the only one in that group to have made our 25-man Premier League squad.

  1. We’ve been trying to shift the likes of Lazaar, Aarons and Saivet from this club for years. The situation has run longer than The Mousetrap. Just don’t believe it any more.
There are more than just those two to be moved on though. Hendricks, Dummett, Clark, Longstaff, Schar, Krafth, Shelvey, Murphy, Lascelles, Carroll and Gayle should also be pointed to the exit signs as they have very little to nothing to offer this club any more.
We need a complete overhaul of players. If not big stars at least some with fire in their belly, pace and application. The overriding problem is we have a totally incompetent head coach who has not got the ability to bring talent on and through. Bloody sad.
