Premier League boss set to be sacked if he loses this weekend – The Athletic

If it goes ahead, it looks like our crunch clash with West Brom on Saturday will be an absolutely massive one for Slaven Bilic.

According to The Athletic’s West Brom reporter Steve Madeley, the Baggies boss looks set to be sacked should they lose to us this weekend after a disastrous start to the season.

Crystal Palace hammered them 5-1 at The Hawthorns on Sunday, a result that leaves the Midlanders 19th in the table with just one win in 11 games.

They report that he’ll be given the game at St James’ Park to save his job and that West Brom chiefs fear their season is ‘threatening to unravel spectacularly’ after a total collapse last time out.

It remains to be seen whether the fixture will go ahead, with the aftermath of the mass Covid outbreak jeopardising another matchday for us.

Bilic is currently the bookies favourite to be the first Premier League boss to face the chop, mainly due to fellow strugglers Sheffield Utd being more likely to give Chris Wilder time to turn their fortunes around after a superb first season back – not to mention he brought them all the way up from League One.

Despite all the Covid complications that have impacted our preparations, this is a game that Newcastle should win. Victory on Saturday and the league table will start to look incredibly healthy from our point of view, allowing us to push for the top 10 and focus on our cup quarter final at Brentford in a fortnight’s time.
