Club legend Alan Shearer has singled out TWO Newcastle United players for their late heroics following our 2-1 victory against West Brom today.
Substitutes Dwight Gayle and Jacob Murphy combined beautifully for a late winner that sunk the Baggies, helping us pick up back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.
The inch perfect cross and bullet header did not go unnoticed by Big Al, who had plenty of praise for both on Twitter after the game:
Both players were on the fringes on the first team this time last year and looked destined for a move away from St James’ Park.
However, 2020 has seen a modest resurgence from the pair and they repaid Bruce’s faith in them perfectly when they combined for an 82nd minute winner.
If Gayle can reproduce the goal scoring streak that he had when Project Restart commenced back in June then we could have some serious attacking options at our disposal for the first time in years.
Murphy could morph into an unlikely solution to our right back problems as he has looked solid while being asked to do a job there.
