Wolves set to make January move for ex-NUFC star – Report

According to an ‘exclusive’ from The Sun’s Duncan Wright, Wolves look set to make a January bid for Salomon Rondon.

He reports that they’ve lined up the former Newcastle United loan star as ‘short-term cover’ for Raul Jimenez; the Mexican striker who’s set to miss the remainder of the season with a fractured skull.

Rondon may be available on loan next month after recently finishing the 2020 Chinese Super League season – which saw him bag nine goals and four assists in 16 games for Rafa Benitez’s Dalian Pro.

It’s also worth noting that Wolves were credited with interest in the Venezuelan last summer after we refused to activate our option to buy for £16.5m.

Considering how much the big man was (and still is!) adored at St James’ Park, it would be a real bitter pill to swallow to see him sign at Molineux.

It’s easy to see why they’d be interested, though, with his immense hold up play, Premier League experience and involvement in 18 goals (11 goals and seven assists) in 2018/19 showing he’d be an ideal stop gap until Jimenez has made a full recovery.
