NUFC set to be offered chance to sign Chelsea talent as Bruce’s transfer tune changes – Report

Newcastle United look set to be offered the chance to sign Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori on loan, according to The Chronicle.

The England centre-back has barely featured under Frank Lampard this season and looks set to spend the second half of the 2020/21 season elsewhere in a bid to gain some regular first-team football.

We’ve been tipped to make a move for the talented 23-year-old, who can also play at right-back, with the same piece stating that Bruce ‘likes’ Tomori and is also keen on a loan move for Man Utd left-back Brandon Williams.

That said, Lee Ryder also reports that there was a notable change in Bruce’s demeanour when asked about potential incomings after yesterday’s defeat to Leicester, with the NUFC boss’ comments seeming slightly more pessimistic.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Whether something can happen in the next week, I ain’t so sure about that, but we’ll keep plugging away and see.

“But as I said, I don’t think there’ll be much activity with what’s happened financially across the Premier League.

“I can’t see there being much movement between many.

I’d expect it to be quiet.”

He’s gone from “one or two things bubbling away” just a few days ago to reigning in expectations, making you wonder if he’***** a bit of a wall.

With several clubs suffering financially, loan moves will be more popular than ever this winter – making the likes of Tomori in high demand.

It’s also worth noting that we only have two domestic loan slots available to us, meaning Bruce must weigh up his options and prioritise.

I’m a fan of Tomori’s and feel his pace, athleticism and ability on the ball would offer a few traits we lack at the back, but do we REALLY need another centre-back?

Personally, I feel a box-to-box midfielder, another wing-back (Jetro Willems, anyone?), a playmaker and striker are needed more than another central defender right now.

  1. Bruce is one complete NUMPTY – Carroll has been with NUFC for nearly 2 years and scores one goal in a defeat…

..then Bruce cones out with ‘that changes things’

What a loon = he’s a striker that hasn’t done anything – one could argue he hasn’t been given an opportunity as the clown as stuck Joelinton on for every game = leave the lazy kid out for a few games (!!!?)

Why is it that fans are managing and Bruce isn’t (!?)
