Newcastle are showing interest in TWO Championship players according to reports – Huddersfield’s Lewis O’Brien and Middlesbrough wing-back Djed Spence.
Starting with O’Brien, an ‘exclusive’ from Football Insider claims ourselves, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United are all ‘in the hunt’ for the 22-year-old.
The dynamic midfielder is The Terrier’s prize asset and their star player over the past two seasons, with him predominantly a CM but also able play on the left wing.
As for Huddersfield’s stance on a potential move, Football Insider claim they’d reluctantly sell if the right offer arrived this month.
Then to Djed Spence – the Boro star who is on the verge of a call up to England’s U-21 set up.
TEAMTalk claim we have been watching him closely this season, with this not the first time we’ve been linked with the highly-rated 20-year-old this season.
They claim that Newcastle, Everton, Wolves and Crystal Palace are all admirers and have carried out ‘regular checks’ on the right wing-back.
Middlesbrough seem less likely than Huddersfield to part with one of their most exciting young players, however it is worth noting that he’s been left out of their starting 11 by Neil Warnock over the past five league games – so who knows.
Then again, deals for either would seemingly require a change of approach from Mike Ashley, with Steve Bruce recently hinting that he’s been restricted to loans.
