Newcastle hoping to hijack Soualiho Meité’s move to AC Milan – Loan with €7m option – Report

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle are showing late interest in Soualiho Meité – the Torino midfielder who was looking all set to sign for AC Milan as of this morning.

This comes from Milan News 24, with the Italian outlet claiming that we are hoping to hijack the 26-year-old’s proposed move to the San Siro.

They report that the Serie A giants have agreed a €1m loan fee with Torino, which includes an ‘option to buy’ the 6ft 2′ Frenchman for just €7m at the end of the season.

However, they state that TWO clubs have entered the race in Newcastle United and Hellas Verona – stating that we are ‘especially” interested in signing the box-to-box midfielder.

Considering he’s at an Ashley approved age (26), is the type of player our midfield sorely lacks and is available on a cheap loan fee (that appears to include a cut-price option to buy) it’s easy to see why we’re ‘interested’, but you get the feeling our alleged interest will be a case of too little too late.

Time will tell, but it seems like he’s already got one foot in the door at AC Milan – making a sudden U-turn for St James’ Park seeming highly unlikely when you compare the two clubs!

Here’s him in action:

  1. Don’t think he will pick our shambles of a club over anyone else.
Does anyone know why in other news he has been after another centre back when he has a ready made one in Lejune
.He is a nufc player and still under contract. At one time our best defender and only a cowardly tackle by Harry Kate putting him out for months.
