TalkSPORT’s Adrian Durham makes Simon Jordan look silly in brilliant Steve Bruce rant – Video

TalkSPORT’s Adrian Durham has ripped into Steve Bruce following our dismal 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United, suggesting he’s one of few in the media who appreciates our frustrations.

Pressure is mounting on the NUFC boss after Tuesday’s embarrassing display against The Blades – a defeat that left us eight games without a win and back in a relegation battle after Fulham’s 1-1 draw at Spurs last night.

Somehow, Bruce received a vote of confidence on talkSPORT from his former boss Simon Jordan – who hired him at Crystal Palace almost 20 years ago – however Durham has made his colleague’s biased and uninformed rant look pretty silly, questioning anybody who attempts to defend him.

Here’s what he’s had to say in a rant that so many Mags lauded on social media:

For context, here’s Simon Jordan’s take on it all just moments before:

It came as a surprise to see Durham neglect his usual antagonistic style in favour of echoing what the majority of Newcastle fans have said all season.

We were dreadful on Tuesday and no pundit in the world could spin that result in a positive light at all.

From the press conference to the lineup, to our output on the pitch and the result; everything about that game was reflective of a manager who looked out of his depth.

Perhaps the cracks are starting to show in the media’s constant blind faith in Steve Bruce, too.

  1. To be fair to Simon Jordan, although most of what he says is complete b*ll*cks, he’s right when he says: “Their expectations, based upon their owner’s model, are unrealistic.”
The owners model is for the team to try just hard enough to make sure they don’t finish below 17th, whereas our expectations are to have a team and a manager that actually tries their best to finish as high as possible. Even if it’s only 16th, as long as they make an effort, give 100% and attempt to score occasionally that’s all we ask for.
