Keith Downie names double loan deal NUFC are pursuing in transfer update from SJP – Video

Speaking live from St James’ Park, Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has shared a much needed update on the transfer front this afternoon – although it seems the situation is much the same.

In this he confirms that Steve Bruce is looking to sign both Manchester United’s Brandom Williams and Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury on loan.

He also insists that the recent run of dismal defeats won’t change the fact he has NO funds to spend on new signings, with him restricted to the loan market in his bid to bring in competition for Jamal Lewis at left-back and a midfielder who can bring energy to NUFC’s lacklustre midfield.

Watch the two clips below from Sky’s North-East correspondent, who suggests any arrivals are likely to come ‘later in the window’:

He believes a move for another striker may also be explored after last night’s 3-0 defeat made it just ONE goal from open play in the past FOURTEEN hours of football under Bruce, however you’d think we’d have to move Dwight Gayle on first.

So, we’re ‘definitely’ keen to sign a couple on loan this month, but will Bruce be able to land those loan targets in window that’s proving difficult for just about every Premier League club.

Let’s hope so, because we’re only going in one direction if nothing changes.

  1. Brandon do you want to go to Newcastle and play in a relegated team? “No boss”. Dont see what experience Williams will gain by sitting on the bench after 3 games because we are still losing.
    New manager please. Preferably Sarri

  2. Should put in an offer for Wyke from Sunderland.

    Also James McLean too.

Got some great players at Hibs

  3. Th thing that has bemused me for some time is who suggested Joelinton would be a good signing. surely £40m could have been put to better use.

  4. Can’t believe nobody hasn’t picked up on longstaff not tracking sakas goal just sauntered behind him no effort to go with him in the middle of the park! Utterly lazy plank disgusting!

  5. Looks like any Saudi takeover is off if it was ever on?

Biden to publish Jamal Khashoggi report …

During the 2020 election campaign, Biden issued scathing attacks against the crown prince, saying Saudi Arabia needed to be treated as “a pariah”. It is expected that the Biden administration would seek to curb weapon sales to Saudi Arabia, but it could also take more targeted actions against Prince Mohammed, including financial sanctions.

Looks like time is running out fast.

  6. Does anyone honestly believe that we are looking to sign Hamza Choudhury on loan after his tackle on Ritchie?

That would be like deliberately trying to rile the dressing room.
