Speaking live from St James’ Park, Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has shared a much needed update on the transfer front this afternoon – although it seems the situation is much the same.
In this he confirms that Steve Bruce is looking to sign both Manchester United’s Brandom Williams and Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury on loan.
He also insists that the recent run of dismal defeats won’t change the fact he has NO funds to spend on new signings, with him restricted to the loan market in his bid to bring in competition for Jamal Lewis at left-back and a midfielder who can bring energy to NUFC’s lacklustre midfield.
Watch the two clips below from Sky’s North-East correspondent, who suggests any arrivals are likely to come ‘later in the window’:
He believes a move for another striker may also be explored after last night’s 3-0 defeat made it just ONE goal from open play in the past FOURTEEN hours of football under Bruce, however you’d think we’d have to move Dwight Gayle on first.
So, we’re ‘definitely’ keen to sign a couple on loan this month, but will Bruce be able to land those loan targets in window that’s proving difficult for just about every Premier League club.
Let’s hope so, because we’re only going in one direction if nothing changes.
